The Civil Guard, within the framework of operation “Vexatus”, arrested a person in the province of Huesca as alleged perpetrator of 19 crimes of harassment, eight crimes of discovery and disclosure of secrets, three crimes of threats and coercion and one hate crime. crime.
The investigation began earlier this year when several people reported receiving denigrating and threatening messages from hidden profiles.
Continuing the investigations, the agents were able to verify that the alleged perpetrator had hidden his identity by creating false profiles on different social networks and free messaging applications.
Subsequently, he used private photographs of the victims themselves and harassed them with messages, threatening and coercing them, making telephone calls and mass mailings of a sexual nature, with the aim of disrupting the normal development of the victims’ lives.
The inmate chose his victims based on their place of residence and their membership in the same social circle. Additionally, it was proven that some of the victims were harassed for over a year.
To harass the victims, he used up to 14 fake profiles on different social networks, five fake accounts on instant messaging applications and four different telephone numbers with data stolen from third parties, making calls through hidden numbers with at least two different devices and using. a virtual private network, encrypting their data and hiding any trace that could betray them.
After officers analyzed more than 6,000 phone calls and numerous messages, the perpetrator was arrested and a house in the town of Fraga was searched, where several devices were intercepted. The operation was carried out by the Huesca team and led by the Fraga Instruction Court No. 2.
