A man who tried to rape a girl was detained in St. Petersburg

A St. Petersburg court has sent a local resident to a pre-trial detention center for attempting to rape a seventh-grade student in the entrance of a high-rise building, the press service of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Russian Investigative Committee for the city reported on September 18.

According to the investigation, on September 16, a 39-year-old man entered the elevator of a building on Voroshilov Street together with a 13-year-old girl and accompanied her to the sixth floor. When the girl got out of the elevator and went to the door of her apartment, the pedophile, threatening her with a knife, grabbed the girl and intended to commit sexual violence against her. The schoolgirl screamed, the attacker got scared and let go of her, after which he disappeared.

The officers arrested the criminal without delay. Police said the man had already been convicted several times for similar crimes.

“In relation to the accused under paragraph 3 of article 30, paragraph “a”, part 3, article 131 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempted rape of a minor), at the request of the investigator, the court opted for a preventive measure in the form of detention for a period of two months,” – says the message.

The joint press service of the St. Petersburg courts added that the crime was Alexander Golubev fully admitted.
