A man will go on trial on Monday for killing another man after a road incident in Estepona

A popular jury will judge from this Monday in Malaga a man accused of stabbing a young man to death after a traffic dispute in a residential area of the town of Estepona in Malaga. The prosecution is asking for him to be sentenced to 16 years in prison and the private prosecution, which represents the family, is asking for 23 and a half years in prison.

The events took place in November 2020. According to the initial brief of the prosecutor, to which Europa Press had access, the defendant was driving a rental vehicle when he braked suddenly as he reached a pedestrian crossing to let the victim pass. exchanged between them, after which he resumed walking” and the young man ran after the car.

Shortly afterwards, the accused returned to place the vehicle behind the pedestrian crossing in front of where the young man was, got out and, “after a struggle, with the intention of ending his life”, he kicked him in the chest and stabbed him in the torso”, after which he fled.

As a result of the “brutal attack,” the charges say, the young man died, the victim of a single stab wound to the left chest, which penetrated all the way to the heart, causing massive external bleeding that led to hypovolemic shock and death.

The accused then allegedly stole the two license plates from another vehicle and replaced the original ones from the rented car with the stolen ones, so as not to be located due to the previous events, according to the prosecution.

The prosecution claims that this is a crime of homicide, for which it is seeking a sentence of 14 years in prison, and another of falsifying license plates in the context of a medical competition with a minor crime of theft, for which it is seeking two years in prison and a fine of ten months with a daily allowance of ten euros.

Similarly, under civil liability, the prosecutor is asking the accused to compensate each of his parents for the victim’s death to the tune of 300,000 euros. For its part, for the private prosecutor, this is a crime of murder and the sentence requested is increased to 22 years in prison.

Alternatively, he considers that this would be an offence of homicide with the aggravating circumstance of abuse of superiority, for which he requests 15 years in prison. He also adheres to the offence of forgery, for which he requests that a sentence of one and a half years in prison be imposed.

According to this accusation, after the first encounter at the pedestrian crossing, the defendant “decided to come back and get him and end his life”. It seems that he punched him several times and that the young man had no opportunity to defend himself, given the “surprise” of the attack after a simple verbal confrontation; in addition, he used the knife that he had “prepared”.
