A Mexican court has banned parliament from discussing judicial reforms

The judge of the fifth district of the state of Morelos, Marta Yevgenia Magaña López, decided to suspend the discussion of the judicial reform initiated by the country’s authorities in the Chamber of Deputies (the lower house of parliament).

According to the decision, the bill cannot be discussed or voted on in the Chamber of Deputies of the new parliament, because the independence of the court and the free judicial system are the guarantee of a democratic society.

It should be noted that this decision was taken in response to an appeal by a group of judges who opposed the judicial reforms initiated by the authorities of the Republic.
