As reported by the Government Delegation, at 9:50 p.m. this Sunday, the Civil Guard received calls reporting a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction on the AP-68, on the road towards Zaragoza.
At 9:53 p.m., an accident was reported at PK 124.8 (Navarrete) on the route of a head-on collision between two cars and a truckleaving the road closed.
Following calls from several people regarding the accident, the SOS Rioja Emergency Service mobilized the Logroño firefighters, the Civil Guard, the Emergency Resources of the Rioja Health Service and the AP-68 Checkpoint.
As the Delegation’s story continues, road patrols who went to the scene first found three people trapped, a pregnant woman in very serious condition and two men in serious condition. It is for this reason that the Fire Department had to carry out decarceration work.
The three people had to be evacuated to the emergency department of San Pedro Hospital. Subsequently, it was learned that the woman who was heavily pregnant and the bbaby who was pregnant. The deceased woman was 35 years old and was a neighbor of Logrono.
We are working on the causes of the accident, without knowing why this car was traveling in the opposite direction of the road.
This means that this vehicle has traveled at least ten kilometers in the opposite directionand could have left via an exit before the accident scene.
The Government Delegation indicates, for the moment, that the person responsible for the accident was traveling alone in his vehicle, while the deceased was traveling as co-pilot in another, leaving the driver injured.
