José Luis Ábalos earned more than 50,000 euros thanks to Koldo García and his family. The SPANISH discovered a new payment from Joseba García Izaguirrewhich amounts to 4,000 euros, made on July 3, 2020. The brother of the former advisor had deposited the same amount in cash on your current account, a few minutes before making the transfer.
Under a strange concept from the “rent of July and August”, Koldo’s brother transferred the money to the former minister. The date of this transfer, July 2020, coincides with that of part of the money collected by the company Soluciones de Gestión thanks to the mask contracts awarded by the ministry led by Ábalos.
The Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard continues to investigate whether José Luis Ábalos charged commissions for contracts awarded by the Ministry of Transport through third partieswith a particular focus on Koldo García and his family.
According to the sources in the file, it is expected that in the next reports of the Armed Institute, the investigators will detail more the funds that passed from the accounts of Koldo García and his entourage to those of the former minister.
José Luis Ábalos, in a legal ruse, tried to present himself as a victim Koldo affair after the audit commissioned by Óscar Puente at the Ministry of Transport. The judge Ishmael Moreno rejected his request and it is now the Criminal Chamber of the National Court which must rule on his appeal.
This payment of 4,000 euros discovered from Joseba García in Ábalos is not the first found, since Former advisor’s brother covers part of divorce costs of the former minister with his former wife Carolina Perles.
Joseba García paid, in January 2023, 12,200 euros to the company Audyper Consulting & Forensic. As a concept, the former employee of the public company Ineco included “the provision of funds for the processing of the deed of transfer of usufruct and extinction of the co-ownership of José Luis Ábalos Meco”.
This payment took place after the agreement concluded by the former minister with Carolina Perles to transfer to him the house that they both owned in the Mas Camarena urbanization (Valencia).
In total, according to the transfers and payments noted by EL ESPAÑOL, more than 50,000 euros have already passed from the accounts of Koldo García and his family to those of José Luis Ábalos.
The stories of Koldo García Izaguirre and his wife, Patricia Uriz, also reveal continuous transfers of hundreds of euros to whoever was their boss. During 2022, Ábalos received from Koldo, as the UCO was able to discover, payments of 200, 350, 400, 500, 650 euros on several occasionswhich pass directly from the accused after the Operation Delorme to the former organizational secretary of the PSOE.
Most money transfers appear accompanied by supporting documents such as “income”, “gifts”, “rent” or even “pension”. Others carry no major description.
The payments investigated were not only made to Ábalos, but also to his ex-wife or ex-father-in-law, Mario Beadswho received a transfer from Koldo with the concept “salary advance”.
Koldo García and his wife, Patricia Úriz, also made, as EL ESPAÑOL exclusively revealed in March, a provision of funds of more than 7,000 euros for the lawsuit that José Luis Ábalos filed against three communicators – the current MEP Luis Pérez, well known as alvisCristina Seguí and Roberto Carbajal — and El Cierre Digital, the media of Juan Luis Galiacho.
The Koldo – Ábalos relationship
The standard of living maintained by Koldo García after his time at the Ministry of Transport does not correspond to his income. According to the UCO investigation, between 2020 and 2022 he recorded 250,000 euros in banknotes in his accounts while his payroll amounted to 230,000 euros.
Those significant cash flows and the large expenses charged to his accounts when he had virtually no income attracted the attention of investigators. As published by EL ESPAÑOL, Koldo García paid 3,000 euros with his card in two hours in a nightclub Oh my club while he had a salary of 5,800 net.
In less than two years, he made 34 payments with his Visa between this nightclub, Joy Eslava And opium at an average of a thousand euros per night. Disproportionate and unaffordable expenses for someone with his annual income.
Koldo García announced to several media outlets that he was going to present a report justifying the increase in his assets. But several weeks later, he has still not been released by his defense.
The relationship between Koldo García and Ábalos is one of the main themes of the UCO investigation. The sources in the file indicate to this newspaper that, in the near future, more details will be known which will indicate that the link between the two “would extend beyond the professional sphere”.
The investigation therefore aims to demonstrate whether the former minister benefited, financially and through various gifts, from commissions paid by Management Solutions and other companies awarded by the Ministry of Transport.
In addition to the mask contracts, work contracts awarded by Ábalos while he was minister between 2018 and 2021 are under investigation.
