A Kazakhstani citizen suspected of paedophilia has been extradited from Russia to his homeland, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan has announced.
According to the department, in September 2023, in one of the rented apartments in the city of Shymkent, he had sexual relations with a 14-year-old schoolgirl, after which he disappeared and was included in the international wanted list.
In April this year, he was arrested in Novosibirsk, from where, at the request of the Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan, he was extradited to his homeland.
The accused is currently in a pretrial detention centre.
He faces a prison sentence of up to five years with life deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or carry out certain activities.
