A passenger plane caught fire in the sky because of a bird – video

A Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner passenger plane flying from Rome Fiumicino Airport to Shenzhen (China) was forced to make an emergency landing due to a fire in one of the engines. Videos posted online showed the damaged plane slowly descending.

Reuters reports this.

The Hainan Airlines flight took off on Sunday, November 10 at 9:55 am local time. There were 249 passengers and 16 crew members on board.

According to available information, the fire quickly spread to the engine, forcing the pilot to make an emergency landing at Fiumicino airport. Before this, the plane dumped fuel into the sea to minimize risks.

The Italian coast guard said the fire was caused by a bird that collided with the Boeing engine. Experts point out that these types of situations are not uncommon and can pose a serious threat to flight safety.

An investigation into the circumstances of the incident is underway, but airport officials said the incident did not affect other flight schedules to Fiumicino.

Previously, Cursor reported how a Spirit Airlines flight en route from Florida to the capital of Haiti was forced to change course after being attacked while attempting to land in Port-au-Prince. There were 48 passengers on board at the time.

On the same day, the US embassy in Haiti warned of attempts by criminal groups to block transport links and the airport, as well as the dangerous security situation in the country. According to the statement, US citizens should evaluate their personal risks before traveling to Haiti.
