Felipe Riva Palacio flew to the Spanish capital on June 2, taking advantage of his dual nationality. The Municipal Police arrested him during a routine traffic check in Fuencarral
The National Police have arrested a 43-year-old man accused in Mexico of sexually abusing his nephew for eight years, when he was a minor. The arrest took place in Madrid, after the suspect fled his country to escape justice, as ABC has learned. This case has caused a stir in the Aztec country.
The victim’s entourage claims that Felipe Riva Palacio flew to Spain on June 2, taking advantage of his family’s protection network. Interpol has issued a red arrest warrant: he is accused of six crimes of rape of a minor.
The arrest took place in the Fuencarral-El Pardo neighborhood, while he was driving his car during a routine traffic stop. When he handed over his documents to the police station, the Interpol order was ignored. It was half past eight in the afternoon on August 28. The request had only been received by the Spanish authorities 24 hours ago.
He is now in prison and the National Court will be responsible for giving the green light to his extradition, although Riva Palacio has Spanish and Mexican nationality. “He must remain detained or under house arrest so as not to flee Spain, as he has already done from Mexico, until the hearing in which the Legal Department of the Mexican Embassy in Spain requests the extradition,” the same sources explain.
The nephew was a victim of his maternal uncle between the ages of 6 and 16. A Mexican judge had dismissed the case, despite opposition from the prosecution.
