The diplomatic telegram, seen by Reuters, showed today on Tuesday that a person uses a fabricated voice with artificial intelligence to impersonate the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, communicating with three foreign ministers and US officials last month, claiming that he is the largest American diplomat.

The telegram said that this person continued in mid -June with the ministers, the governor of the American state and a member of the Congress through “Segen” for correspondence, and left audio messages at least two of them. In one case, a text message was sent to invite a target person to communicate using a “signal”.

The telegram said: “The transmitter probably manipulates targeted people using text and sound messages made by artificial intelligence to achieve information or accounts.”

The Washington Post is the first to publish news about this attempt.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs knows about this incident and is currently under investigation,” said a senior official of the State Department, who asked not to be called.

The official added: “The ministry is seriously related to its responsibility to protect its information and takes constant steps to improve the position of cybersecurity in the ministry to prevent facts in the future.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, dated July 3, was sent to all diplomatic and consular missions and suggested that employees warn external partners about false accounts and imitations.

The ministry said: “From the same campaign, there is no direct electronic threat to the ministry, but the information that is transmitted to the third party may be exposed if the targets are hacked.”

The telegram, nor US officials indicated its suspension in this incident, but in April the telegram indicated the second attempt that electronic infiltrators associated with Russia conducted a campaign of research centers of electronic piracy, activists, opponents in Eastern Europe and former foreign officials.
