A man of Polish nationality accepted a year in prison for being arrested in 2023 in Alcalá de Henares (Madrid) with a pistol stick ready to fire hunting cartridges.
Judicial sources tell EL ESPAÑOL that the accused accepted a deal with the prosecution and assumed a 12-month prison sentence, which will be replaced by three months of work for the benefit of the community. He will also be prohibited from committing any other offense within three years.
The trial of this Polish citizen was held this Monday in Criminal Court 1 of Alcalá de Henares. Due to the short term of the sentence, the defendant’s defense and the prosecution agreed that the foreigner don’t go to jail.
Madrid Totalthe local news section of EL ESPAÑOL, had exclusive access to the police report which analyzes in detail the functioning of this weapon and which was incorporated into the summary of this case.
According to the document, it is a “simulated cane-shaped pistol, with no visible make or model and no serial number.” It is possible that it was handmade and belongs to the type of “forbidden weapons”.
Inside were “two complete, unfired semi-metallic cartridges.” More precisely, of Caliber 24, hunting type and with shot.
The projectiles had separate cases, which are the part of the cartridge that holds the powder charge, fulminate, and bullet under pressure.
The curious weapon
The investigating court number 6 of Alcalá de Henares asked the local forensic brigade in 2023 to analyze the weapon “and its capacity to fire”.
The officer responsible for doing so concluded that, according to the Weapons Regulations, the examiner was a “prohibited weapon”, which therefore penalized its possession and use.
The curious composition of the weapon —typical spy film Kingsman: Secret Servicein which Colin Firth’s character uses an umbrella gun— according to the police report, it is camouflaged in the shape of a cane “to be able to hide it.”
“He has a single outlet system which is activated thanks to a small projection, located at the bottom of the handle of the cane”, explains the document.
To reload the weapon and activate the shooting equipment again, you must move backwards a washer located on the handle, camouflaged as if it were a simple garnishas a simple decoration of the handle.
“This weapon is operational and suitable for unconventional firing of semi-metallic cartridges of 24 caliber (24x65mm hunting),” the analysis of the weapon stick concludes.
Police suspect the weapon was made by handbecause after firing the cartridges, they noticed “a deep and off-center percussion”, a symptom of homemade firing systems.
After being examined, and “due to particular ballistic interest”the local police station in Alcalá de Henares asked to keep the weapon, given its rarity and for “exclusive technical-scientific purposes”. The ballistic agents also asked the investigating judge to register the stick in the technical database of the local laboratory.
