A court hearing was held in the criminal case of Rashid Babayev, who is accused of murdering a resident of the village of Mashtaga in the Sabunchu district.
Oku.AzAccording to the information of the Baku Serious Crimes Court, the defendant’s free statement was heard at the review session chaired by the judge of the Baku Serious Crimes Court Sami Aliyev. Rashid Babayev, a resident of the Mashtaga settlement, who had previously been convicted under several articles of the criminal code, stressed that he had no close relationship with his fellow villager Roman Asgarov, and said that the incident he committed occurred on the basis of a misunderstanding.
“I lived alone. I knew Roman before. He used to be a little far away from us. On the day of the incident, someone knocked on the door. As soon as I opened the door, I saw Roman and he suddenly jumped out. I was scared, I thought he wanted to kill me. He was drunk. I quickly went inside to get something to save myself, but he had a knife in his hand.
Two days later, Rashid Babayev learned that the person he had injured had died in Sabunchu City Clinical Hospital No. 3. Humbat Baratov, a resident of Mashtaga, who testified as a witness in court, said that the incident occurred outside the park where the security guard works. He said that the murdered person often spent the night in the park and lived a miserable life.
It should be noted that the incident took place in May 2024 in the Mashtaga settlement of the Sabunchu district. A resident of the settlement, Roman Asgarov, born in 1974, died in hospital with cuts and puncture wounds.
Rashid Babayev, born in 1966, suspected of the murder of R. Asgarov and previously convicted, was detained as a result of search and operation measures carried out by the 14th Police Department of the Sabunchu District Police Department.
