A privacy vulnerability was found in WhatsApp

A vulnerability has been discovered in the WhatsApp messenger from the Meta corporation, which threatens users’ privacy. It turns out that cybercriminals can remotely bypass the View Once feature introduced in 2021.

Oku.Az This is reported with reference to Gazeta.ru.

The feature reportedly allows users to send messages that cannot be forwarded, copied or screenshotted. These messages are automatically deleted after viewing. The breach was reported in a report by security firm Zengo.

Zengo found that the View Once feature only blocked screenshot taking on mobile devices, while the web version and desktop app did not prevent the user from taking this action. Zengo researchers believe that Meta implemented the View Once feature negligently, leaving loopholes that allowed criminals to easily share copies of private messages.
