A referendum is held in Kazakhstan on the construction of a nuclear power plant

A republican referendum has begun in Kazakhstan and citizens will have to decide on the construction of nuclear power plants in the country.

Oku.Az With reference to TASS, it is reported that according to the legislation of Kazakhstan, the referendum is a national vote on other important issues of public life. It is regulated by the constitutional law “On the Referendum of the Republic” and organized by a specially created commission.

All citizens of Kazakhstan who have reached the age of 18 at the time of voting have the right to vote. When more than half of the citizens included in the voting list participate in the referendum, the process is considered complete. This includes 12 million 244 thousand 683 Kazakhs with the right to vote.

It should be recalled that on September 2, Kasim-Jomart Tokayev signed a decree on holding a referendum on the construction of a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan.
