A resident of the Perm region was sentenced to 12 years in prison for torturing his partner, handcuffing her in an apartment and then cutting off her hand, the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the region announced today, September 10.
According to the department, last summer, out of jealousy, a man illegally detained a woman in an apartment for two weeks, depriving her of communications and handcuffing her. During all this time, he beat her and subjected her to physical and mental violence, as well as stealing her property. The man then amputated the woman’s right hand and fled the scene of the crime.
His whereabouts were established as soon as possible. The man was found guilty under Part 2 of Art. 117 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (torture), Part 2 of Art. 127 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (unlawful deprivation of a person’s liberty, not related to his abduction), Part 1 of Art. 161 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (robbery), Part 1 of Art. 131 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (rape), Part 1 of Art. 132 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violent acts of a sexual nature), as well as Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm).
“The court sentenced the author to 12 years’ imprisonment in a general regime correctional colony and one year’s restriction of liberty.” – the message said.
