A Russian comedian serving time for discrediting the military has been prosecuted

An administrative case has been opened under Part 1 of Art. 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation on discrediting the Russian Armed Forces against comedian Dmitry Gavrilov, who was previously detained in Nizhny Novgorod. The relevant data appeared on the portal of the Nizhny Novgorod District Court.

A hearing date for the case has not yet been set.

As reported EADailyOn September 8, the comedian was scheduled to perform at the DKRT concert hall in Nizhny Novgorod. Before the concert, the artist was detained and found guilty by a court of a crime under Article 20.3.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation (inciting hatred or enmity). The comedian was sentenced to 13 days of administrative arrest.

After his arrest, Gavrilov recorded a video in which he admitted his mistakes.

The reason for the arrest was one of the comedian’s videos on Gavrilov’s YouTube channel, published in September last year. According to a linguistic study conducted by specialists from the Dobrolyubov State National Linguistic University, the video revealed signs of humiliation of human dignity.
