The secondary school in the village of Yenikend named after Vugar Gasimov of Siyazan district has been closed.
According to Xezerxeber.az, residents are unhappy with the closure of the school with 400 pupils six months ago.
The school is said to have been closed for months for repairs, but no work has been done. This year, 400 students will have to travel to neighbouring villages to continue their education.
Residents also say they have heard that a modular school will be set up in the village, but have not received any information about it.
Murad Garibov, an employee of the Guba-Khachmaz Regional Education Department, said that the relevant institutions have been informed about the current situation at the school and that repair and construction work is planned in the near future. To ensure the continuity of education, students are placed in nearby schools and the Ministry of Science and Education ensures their transportation to these educational institutions.
