A sequel to “Office of Legends” is being prepared in Africa

The producer of the successful series. The legends office announced, on Tuesday, November 4, to Agence France-Presse that a project was being carried out “in development” continues the series that follows the steps of French agents working with false identities, this time on the African continent. “The provisional title is The Africa office. We already have several scenarios, but, for the moment, this is still a project in development”declared Alex Berger in Abidjan (Ivory Coast), where he is participating in the International Audiovisual Content Exhibition.

“France’s historical relationship with West African countries is a good playing field”explains. “France’s geopolitics points more towards Africa, after Françafrique. The events that occurred in Niger, Burkina Faso or Mali are things that interest us”he added, referring to the three Sahel countries that suffered coups in recent years and turned their backs on France.

Canal+ emblematic series, The legends office It continued for five seasons, the last in 2020, the adventures of French undercover agents abroad, in countries like Iran or Syria in particular. It was sold in more than one hundred countries and was praised for its realism by the General Directorate of Foreign Security, the French intelligence service where the characters operate.

“Be plausible and credible”

“The idea was to be able to leave enough time between the two series, so as not to abandon a simple sequel. I don’t think it’ll be a sixth season… tho! »says Mr. Berger. The production company refused to give a start date for possible filming or the country in which the plot would take place.

“When we started developing the idea in 2021, there were five plausible countries for our story”explains Alex Berger, specifying that the list has now been reduced after the coups d’état in the Sahel. “We are not in a hurry. The obsession, for us, is to be plausible and credible”he added, specifying that there was “three projects that have African countries as their center of gravity”.
