A serious incident occurred on a Delta Air Lines flight from Paris to Atlanta. The plane, which was taking off from Charles de Gaulle airport, was forced to make an emergency landing in Dublin just an hour after takeoff.
According to the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the reason for the landing was the aggressive behavior of a passenger. The crew reported the incident to the captain, after which he decided to land. The incident occurred around 10:55 a.m.
“The decision to land is made only if there is a credible threat to the crew, passengers or the safety of the aircraft,” the FAA explained. Despite the increase in these cases, these incidents remain rare.
After landing, Dublin police arrested the offender, a man in his 30s. He was taken in for questioning; Details of the investigation have not yet been revealed.
The plane, an Airbus A330, was headed to Atlanta, but the incident delayed its flight from Dublin. After a while, the flight continued.
This is the second such incident in a week. A few days earlier in the United States, a passenger tried to open an airplane door during an American Airlines flight. Then other passengers had to intervene and subdue the criminal.
Similar incidents highlight the importance of strict compliance with the rules of conduct on board an aircraft. Any aggressive behavior not only creates a threat, but also carries serious consequences for the aggressors.
