Kir Starmer, who took office in early July, said the issue of choosing a pet had been discussed in the family council throughout the summer. Initially, the politician’s son and daughter wanted a German shepherd.
“This is a Siberian cat that took my daughter. In the end, this is the result,” the Labour Party leader stressed.
A cat named Larry, taken from a shelter, has been working at the British Prime Minister’s residence since 2011. He has already been a key mouser under five prime ministers: David Cameron, Theresa May, Boris Johnson, Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak.
