The authorities of the Oleneksky region of Yakutia were forced to introduce a state of emergency (emergency situation) due to the invasion of wild animals – reindeer.
According to the regional edition of the Komsomolskaya Pravda publication, reinforcements have been requested from the region, as the regional authorities do not have sufficient forces to deal with the situation.
The invasion of wild deer antlers is due to the fact that at this time the deer begin their mating period, the so-called heat. During this period, wild animals attack domestic herds and take the females to the tundra.
“Herds number 5 and 3 have already disappeared. The threat of attack looms over herds number 1 and 2.” — the portal sounds the alarm.
district head Elena Ivanova promised to take all necessary measures to protect domestic deer from wild ones.
He also said that teams of specialists began working in the area to protect the herds and that reinforcements were called in to help them: reindeer hunters and herders, some of whom deliberately interrupted their holidays.
Previously EADaily reported that in the Romanian county of Bistrita-Nasaud, a bear attacked a man. The victim suffered several serious injuries and was taken to the hospital by a rescue team.
