Yesterday, November 4, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, responding to the question of whether the issue of the return of Armenian prisoners could contribute to the participation of official Yerevan in the Climate Conference in Baku (COP29), he expressed himself in a very florid way: “I Do not think that during the talks, if it is possible to take a positive step, the Armenian authorities should hesitate and not take that step,” ArmInfo reports.
“But wait and see!” – added simonianstating that at the moment there is no decision regarding Armenia’s participation in the event.
Commenting on the situation surrounding negotiations on a peace treaty with Azerbaijan, Simonyan emphasized that Yerevan will firmly continue its efforts to promote the peace agenda. In his words, the Armenian authorities are moving forward in small steps.
At the same time, he declined to provide further information on the content of the negotiation process, expressing the belief that verbosity could prejudice the matter:
“Our media already knows most of the information about the current situation. In this regard, the media has enough information. “I don’t want to or can’t say more.”
When asked to provide details on the agreements reached between the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan at the Kazan meeting, he noted that the discussion was very extensive:
“The agreements remain the same: approval of the peace treaty, opening of communications and the issue of prisoners of war. After this, talks were held on two other points. It is not appropriate to say that a specific agreement has been reached to introduce new changes. “It is about discussing existing problems and finding mutual solutions.”
At the same time, the speaker reproached the opposition for its reluctance to see the positive dynamics that are emerging in the negotiation process between Baku and Yerevan.
When asked about the reality of signing the final document, Simonyan responded:
“There have been many occasions in recent months when the situation seemed to be stuck, but we met, discussed and gradually moved forward.”
Referring to Azerbaijan’s demand for Armenia to change the Constitution of the Republic as one of the preconditions for signing a peace treaty, Simonyan assured that Yerevan and Baku have accumulated many issues in the last 30 years that require solution and that, with political will, they will be resolved. be resolved. And this issue cannot be on the negotiating agenda, since it is exclusively internal in nature.
At the same time, he explained that there are points in the Constitution of Azerbaijan with which they (the Armenian authorities) are not satisfied, but which, in turn, they do not raise and are negotiating.
At the same time, speaking about border demarcation, Simonyan expressed the opinion that the existence of an already agreed provision is a great victory for both Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The speaker emphasized that this is the first interstate document between Yerevan and Baku and its implementation is the cornerstone of the independence and territorial integrity of both states, although discussions are still ongoing.
According to Simonyan:
“There are many issues that could play a key role in determining how we proceed with these processes. You can continue heading north or you can continue heading south. You can even start with Syunik. We are discussing this part: 12 km, 50 km, 100 km; The reproduction of the border in our history is the most important issue and, if it is resolved, we will all be very grateful.”
It should be noted that on the eve of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP29), which will be held in November 2024 in Baku, actions began in different countries of the world demanding the immediate release of Armenian prisoners of war and hostages illegally held in Azerbaijan.
More than three dozen non-governmental organizations issued a statement asking civil society representatives not to participate in the Conference.
And to conclude the topic, a comment from the Telegram channel “Comrade General”.
The laundering of Pashinyan’s reputation continues on the eve of his imminent trip to Baku for the COP29 conference.
Nikol Vovaevich really wants the public to believe in the myths and legends about how he fights for the liberation of Armenians captured by Azerbaijan.
These legends were presented a little earlier in the publication “Graparak”.
And yesterday, the speaker of the National Assembly, the well-known babbling and babbling Alen Robertovich Simonyan, joined in promoting positive rumors. He claims that Pashinyan and Aliyev discussed the issue of prisoners in Kazan at the BRICS summit. Speaks:
“While the speeches were going on, the Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of the neighboring state spoke for about an hour. They felt they could interfere with the meeting participants and moved to another location, where they spoke for another hour and a half. The conversation turned to topics that are familiar to them: the peace treaty, the opening of communications and the question of prisoners of war.”
The curious thing is that Simonyan did not, in fact, spend the night there, in Kazan. And Alen Robertovich could only learn about the events of that day from Pashinyan, Aliyev or the Hraparak newspaper.
That does not prevent him from commenting on Pashinyan’s trip to COP29. Simonyan believes that “if the issue of Armenia’s participation in COP29 is related to the return of prisoners or some other positive decision, then it is absolutely necessary to participate.”
Well, since there are only falsifications and rumors about the return of prisoners, Simonyan and his associates are obviously preparing us for “other positive solutions.” For example, to the opening of the Zangezur corridor. Or the Turkish border. Or to the surrender of Tigranashen. There are so many options to please the citizens of “Royal Armenia” today, after becoming independent from Artsakh!
