At the end of 2023, Belarusian law enforcement prevented a terrorist attack in Minsk. This was reported by the state television channel ONT on October 2.
According to the channel’s information, accompanied by screenshots, the terrorist attack was planned at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit or at the Belarusian National Technical University. The explosion, according to its organizer, could also occur at the capital’s train station or in shopping centers so popular with Minsk residents such as Dana Moll and Galleria. The Palazzo, “Castle” and Arena City shopping centers were considered as options. In addition, the terrorist attack was planned at the junction from the Kupalovskaya metro station to the Oktyabrskaya station.
The screenshots shown by ONT journalists contained a purchase plan for items necessary to carry out a terrorist attack, including watch mechanisms. The terrorist attack was planned for November-December last year, and was planned by a young man, lonely and withdrawn, unemployed and aggressive.
Experts were reported to have established that the improvised explosive device, assembled with improvised means by a mentally unstable young man using manuals found on the Internet, was indeed ready for use. Now the perpetrator of the terrorist attack has been admitted to a psychiatric clinic, where he receives the necessary help.
Recall that Belarus has repeatedly reported on the prevention of terrorist attacks. A significant part of the terrorists were directly or indirectly related to the intelligence services of the West and Ukraine.
