In the Leningrad region, FSB agents seized a ton of cocaine that was being transported in transit through Russia to one of the EU countries. The Central Operations Center of the FSB reported this to TASS today, November 8.
“The supply channel for Latin American cocaine to the states of the European Union in transit through Russian territory has been closed. “In the Leningrad region, two citizens of one of the Balkan countries were arrested red-handed for loading 984 briquettes of cocaine, weighing 1 kg each, in the hiding place of a car, with the intention of taking them to one of the countries of the European Union.” – reported to the CSC.
A few hours before the arrest, the foreigners tried to sell 20 kg of cocaine in Russia, for which they set up a hideout in the forest area of the Gatchina region and communicated their coordinates to Russian drug traffickers. When trying to pick up the merchandise, an Estonian citizen and two Russian citizens were detained.
“The total weight of the cocaine seized was more than 1 ton. Its wholesale value on the black market is more than 3.5 billion rubles.” – noted the FSB.
As reported by the CSC, in October a truck heading to Russia was detected on the Russian-Latvian section of the state border, in which an empty high-tech cache was found. Surveillance of the vehicle made it possible to establish its subsequent use for drug trafficking.
The investigative unit of the Federal Security Service of Russia for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region has opened criminal cases against five detainees under part 5 of art. 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (large-scale illicit drug trafficking), which provides for 15-20 years in prison.
