“Near the masonry belonging to the funerary structures located here, a treasure was discovered that is unique not only in Crimea, but also in the entire northern Black Sea region. Contains a necklace of two gold medallions inlaid with garnet, 66 gold piercings, a transparent glass bead with gilding inside, as well as two silver earrings with hollow ends in the shape of lion heads, a silver ring and 11 coins silver.” – he told reporters.
In addition, during the archaeological work, the remains of a ceramic oven from the Hellenistic era, a rare type of painted jug and a realistically executed terracotta head of a “barbarian” with a pointed headdress and a crown placed on the head were also found. top.
Experts suggest that the treasure was deposited in this place by a wealthy resident of Chersonesos during the Diophantine Wars, that is, at the end of the 2nd century BC.
