AZERTAC reports that then the heads of state of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan signed the “Agreement on strategic partnership in the field of development and transmission of green energy between the governments of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Uzbekistan” . .

Then the presidents spoke.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said:

“Dear Kasim-Jomart Kemelevich.

Dear Shavkat Miromonovich,

Dear friends.

Today is a significant event in the history of relations between Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The three brother countries today raise their cooperation to a new level. The signing of the agreement is, I would say, a historic event. We are further strengthening fraternal relations between our countries and will actively cooperate in the field of green energy. I would also say that the Agreement we signed today opens up new opportunities in cooperation between the regions of Central Asia and the Caucasus. In essence, the processes of integration, transport, energy and trade in the regions of Central Asia and the Caucasus today allow us to say that these two regions act synchronously on many issues, including the development of green energy.

We know the great plans and results already achieved for the creation of renewable energy sources in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. In other words, we are going, so to speak, in parallel, and the laying of an electric cable under the Caspian Sea is not only a cooperation between our three countries, but also on a larger scale.

Yesterday, in my speech at the conference, I talked about our country’s already implemented plans to build a cable line from Azerbaijan to Europe through the bottom of the Black Sea. The feasibility study of this project is about to be completed and with it we will connect Central Asia, the Caucasus, Europe, the Caspian Sea and the Black Sea with a single energy corridor. It is especially gratifying that this Agreement is signed between three brother countries that are always close to each other. Our relations with Uzbekistan this year reached the level of alliance and the corresponding agreement was signed. We have been collaborating with Kazakhstan for a long time as a strategic partner. Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan were the first countries that helped us in the reconstruction of Karabakh. The school named after Mirza Ulugbey in Fuzuli and the creative center named after Kurmangazy are today clear proof of our brotherhood. I am sure that we will always be together and support each other in the future. I thank my dear friends and brothers Shavkat Miromonovich and Kasim-Jomart Kemelevich for participating in COP29 and enriching our event with their participation and valuable ideas and messages.

I want to thank my dear friends again. I also express my gratitude to our dear friend, the Minister of Saudi Arabia, who is present here today, and to all our friends in Saudi Arabia. The company “ACWA Power”, which I talked about yesterday, is our good partner and investor and operates both in Azerbaijan and Central Asia. Therefore, today, after this ceremony, there will be another ceremony that will expand our cooperation. This includes the Middle East, Central Asia, the Caspian region, the Caucasus, the Black Sea and Europe.

So I congratulate you all and hope that we can soon witness the implementation of this project. Thank you.”
