The León Products Fair opened this Thursday afternoon the doors of its thirtieth edition, which has the presence of 99 exhibitors and offers, until Sunday afternoon, a program which completes the showcase of preserves, cold meats, legumes, honey, wines and other drinks, cheeses or sweets with presentations, round tables, agreements, workshops and ham cutting competitions.
Many institutional representatives participated in the opening ceremony during the day, during which the president of the Provincial Delegation, Gerardo Álvarez Courel, wanted to keep a special memory for the promoters of this event, which brings together every year thousands of visitors and spoke of “all these people who 31 years ago – in 2020 we didn’t celebrate because of the pandemic – made it possible to truly believe in something that seemed to be simply intended for self-consumptionwhich were the products of our land, this excellence that we have. I want to remember Agustín Turiel, who was then president of the Provincial Council, but above all the figure of Matías Llorente, who was one of those who believed from the beginning, perhaps because he was also in this sector.
The success, he says, of successive editions “demonstrates that this idea which seemed a little strange in this tent set up in Santa Nonia was a good idea”.
The vice-president of the Provincial Delegation and director of Products of León, Roberto Aller, is the main person responsible for an event which this year is celebrated under the motto “Taste with love” and of which the Government delegate, Nicanor Sen, assured that “is a successful project and he did not want “at any time to forget all the people who started the path traveled by the products of León so that today they are a reference for our local economy” or the producers and exhibitors and their contribution “to the revitalization of the economy, in the establishment of the population and in employment in our rural environment with products of the highest quality.
The mayor of León, José Antonio Diez, alluded to the importance of the agri-food sector; “one of the essential and fundamental elements of the economy of the city and the province” and the Fair as an example “of the strength of this sector and the strength of a province”.
“This is the goal we all have, that the valorization of what belongs to us, of the products of our land, becomes greater and greaterof our producers, of our province, of our city; all together. León is your province and therefore we must work in a coordinated and joint way and nothing that is done in the province – and I also hope that nothing that is done in the capital – is foreign to the rest of the province “he said.
The visiting hours of the fair, located at the Palais des Expositions, and which will close its doors on Sunday evening, are from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
