Mahira, born in 1980 in the city of Ganja, killed 51-year-old Irade (names provisionally provided – ed.) during a dispute arising from personal relations.

Mahira, the perpetrator of the incident, was charged under article 120.1 (intentional homicide) of the Penal Code.

According to Mahira, who testified in a state of confusion in the criminal proceedings, she lived with her daughter Samira:

On August 31, 2021 , Around 5 pm, Irada was at the entrance of the building, he washed wool in front of the block. Irade had washed wool in the same place before. When I protested, Irade started insulting me with the same words. . peeling eggplants at home, and when I heard his voice, Irade came towards me with a piece of wood in his hand,” I said. And Irada could say “hit my abdomen.” At that time, I hit Irada’s abdomen and chest with a knife. I stopped my movement after letting go. I ran away from the place and went to Ganja bus station. There I boarded the Ganja-Gazakh bus and headed to the Gazakh region. I went to the village of Gazakh region to visit my aunt Vusala’s grandson, Maleykagil.

Mahira said that after the incident, her aunt, who lives in the village of Gazakh district, stated that her main purpose in going to Maleykagil was to visit the Albanian monument located there: “I did not give any information to Maleykagil about the incident. Mahira noticed that while she was stabbing Irada, the latter resisted by grabbing her hair and lowering her head. According to her brother, who declared as the legal heir of the victim Irade in the case, since Irade got married and moved to Ganja, his relations with her were not very close: “However, sometimes Irade came to the village in the district from Goranboy in the summer months with an interval of 2-3 years to visit my relatives On August 31, 2021, at 6:00 pm, my sister called me and informed me that Irade had died around 8. :00 pm 00 pm Irade had a dispute with Mahira in front of the apartment building. I found out that he hit my sister, then ran away and left the place, and that Irada died on the spot as a result of those injuries.

This criminal case was heard in the Ganja Serious Crimes Court. The court considered it proven that the accused committed the criminal act provided for in article 120.1 of the Penal Code in an unreasonable situation.

According to the verdict, Mahira was exempted from criminal liability because she was in an irrational state when she committed the socially dangerous act. According to article 95.0.4 of the Criminal Code, mandatory medical measures were applied to the defendants in the form of mandatory treatment under intensive observation in specialized psychiatric hospitals. The execution of the decision was carried out by the Republic Psychiatric Hospital No. 1 of the Ministry of Health.
