A woman raped by a taxi driver was strangled by her husband: A HORRIBLE CRIME in Baku

In connection with the incident, a criminal case was initiated at the Sabunchu District Prosecutor’s Office under article 120.1 (intentional homicide) of the Penal Code.

The investigation established that Shahniyar Mammadov, born in 1960, returned home alone at night from the restaurant where Valida Zulfugarova worked by taxi, often asked her when she would be on duty at work and showed a cold attitude towards him, which was suspected . a relationship. During the conversation on August 11, the woman admitted that she had an intimate relationship with a taxi driver named Rasim, whose identity is unknown to the investigation, a month ago, while returning from work. The woman refused to live with her husband and asked for a divorce. Shahniyar Mammadov was enraged by this and wanted to kill his wife out of jealousy. Thus, on September 14, at 1:30 p.m., in the living room, during the following discussion about betrayal, the man took the woman’s retuz from the sofa, wrapped it several times around Valida Zulfugarova’s throat and squeezed it with all his might. their forces. As a result, the woman died.

Shahniyar Mammadov, questioned about the case, said that in 1990 he started a family with Valida Zulfugarova and four children were born from their marriage. Valida was a calm person by nature, she suffered from diabetes and high blood pressure.

“We have lived in the Tovuz region for about 30 years. Valida was a housewife. Ten months before the incident, I took my family and came to work in Baku. We lived in the Zabrat settlement and paid 250 manat a month for rent . After we moved to Baku, I worked as a security guard at the Nakhchivansky Higher Military School. Two days at home, I was at work during the day. My husband worked as a dishwasher near the “Alp” station. That night I told my mother that there was a park nearby. My wife replied that there was a big park near the Olympia stadium in Baku and asked her how she knew this park and when she went there, when Valida came home from work, she said that. He saw the park from the back of the stadium.

I thought about it a lot that day after taking my partner to work and returning home. Because that lake is located near Balakhani road, and the road between the address where we live and the restaurant where Walida works is in the exact opposite direction of that lake. After that I asked my wife to tell the truth. Although Walida said she had tea in the park with a lady named Rahila, that woman said she was never there with my wife. After all this, Valida admitted that she returned home several times that way with a taxi driver named Rasim. Once, that person stopped the car on the side of the road, threatened to kill her, and forcibly had sex with Walida. I recorded this conversation with Walida on the phone so I can test this confession later if necessary. I informed my children, Walida’s sister and father about this. I searched many times for the person named Rasim, even when I went to the office of the taxi company “Bolt”, I couldn’t find him.

On August 18, Valida went alone to her sister’s house. After 6 days I found him and brought him home. He recently bought new clothes, when asked about it he said that his father bought them. When I went to bed that night, I saw a bruise on his body. On August 23, as soon as I left for work, Valida went to her sister’s house before telling anyone, and then to her father’s house in Tovuz district. It stayed there for 2 weeks. I called my father-in-law’s cell phone and spoke to Walida, I asked her to come back. He returned home in early September. On the 14th of the month, around 2:00 p.m., while I was sitting on the couch and chatting, I told my wife that a black car was parked near the house and asked her if it belonged to a person named Rasim. Valida said she didn’t know that person and started yelling at me. Angry that he was talking rudely to me, I grabbed the women’s stockings from the couch and wrapped them around my friend’s neck twice. Squeezing her tightly, I threw her back on the couch and began to strangle her. Valida couldn’t resist, little by little she was losing strength.”

After 3-4 minutes, Shahniyar saw that Walida was not breathing and thought she was dead. He called 102 and said he had killed his wife. Sitting at home, he waited for the arrival of the agents from the 15th police station.

Vasila Zulfugarova, legal heir of the victim, stated in her statement that the arguments in her sister’s family were due to Shahniyar’s unreasonable jealousy towards her:

“As I did not get involved in her family affairs, I did not know where this jealousy came from. Walida was a moral and well-mannered person, I never witnessed any crime. According to Shahniyar, my sister allegedly had a close relationship with a person named Rasim. But in reality, nothing like this ever happened, said Shahniyar. On September 14, my relatives called me and informed me that Shahniyar had killed his wife. The taxi was ordered by the restaurant staff.

Vasila Zulfugarova noted that the female voice on Shahniyar Mammadov’s mobile phone does not belong to his sister.

Witness Shirali Zulfugarov said that in August, because her son-in-law beat her daughter, she went to Baku and took Valida to her house.

“The next morning, my daughter filed for divorce at the Tovuz district court. If I’m not mistaken, the trial was scheduled for September 13. After Valida stayed in the district for about a week, Shahniyar came and took her to Baku. Shahniyar was jealous of Valida and the taxi driver who brought her home from work at night, but my daughter said that she had no relationship with that person and that her friend was lying.

At the court hearing, Shahniyar Mammadov pleaded guilty to the announced charges. The legal heir of the victim requested that the accused be punished in accordance with the law.

The court concluded that Shahniyar Mammadov’s act was correctly described by the preliminary investigation body in accordance with article 120.1 of the Criminal Code. He must be found guilty of that article and punished according to the law.

According to the verdict of the Baku Serious Crimes Court, Shahniyar Mammadov was sentenced to 10 years in prison under a strict regime.
