Although the priority in Castilla-La Mancha continues to be to find the five people missing in Letur (Albacete) almost a week after the passage of the DANA, it is now time to count the material damage, both in terms of infrastructure, this that the regional government with the Ministry of Development through the recovery and improvement plans of this municipality of Albacete, as well as Mira (Cuenca)the other major affected by the storm, as in the economic activity of both places.
For the latter, this Monday the Castilian-Manchego Executive and social agents – the CCOO and UGT unions as well as the employers represented at Cecam – created a working group in order to “respond to the urgent needs for economic recovery”. This was made known by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Employment, Patricia Francowho, together with representatives of unions and businesses, gave a press conference at the Fuensalida Palace in Toledo, after a meeting attended by President Emiliano García-Page, to report on the actions they are going to take to help the businesses and affected businesses. workers.
According to the calculations proposed by the advisor, there would be around a hundred companies affected by DANA, most of them linked to tourism and hospitality, which are the most present. in the municipality of Letur, where 61 companies in the tourism sector would be located, while in Mira those dedicated to ceramics, textiles and transport stand out.. “The goal is to reach everyone,” stressed Franco, who announced that he would do so through aid and direct actions “because the situation demands it.”
In this sense, he stressed that from the beginning they were in contact with officials from the Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of Industry and Tourism to accelerate the search for solutions. He thus recalled that ERTEs due to force majeure “are still active”. “They have always been after Covid and are available to any business that needs them,” he added.
However, the head of Economy, Business and Employment acknowledged that no request from ERTE has yet reached her department. “It is understandable that in the municipalities concerned this is not yet on the table, but companies have all the advisory services and social agents to help them with any application procedure.”
And, on the other hand, he also highlighted the possibility for self-employed workers to benefit from the cessation of activity, emphasizing that tomorrow the Government should approve new measures in relation to this initiative.
With all this, Patricia Franco wanted to thank everyone for their collaboration and wanted to appeal to “strengthen ourselves as a society, and even more when some want us to be divided.” It is for this reason that he gave as an example the collaboration between the government of Castile-La Mancha and social agentsas in the task force they created this Monday to help those affected by DANA.
