Ertzaintza agents arrested a 21-year-old young man this morning in Erandio (Bizkaia) after throwing his companion from the platform onto the railway tracks as he was preparing to overtake a unit of the Bilbao Metro, at the station of Astrabudua, according to the Basque Security Department.
The event occurred around nine o’clock in the morning at the Astrabudua metro station, in Erandio, when, after a fight between the couples, the now detained man attacked and pushed his partner onto the tracks, shortly before the crossing from the metro.
The metro driver was ordered to stop before the station in order to avoid hitting the victim, who was then evacuated to Cruces hospital, with a violent blow to the head.
In the meantime, the alleged perpetrator fled the scene, but was intercepted shortly after, very close to the scene of the incident, where he was arrested.
Two hours earlier, the arrested man had another altercation with Ertzaintza officers and paramedics who came to help him, after being involved in a fight at a nightclub. This young man reprimanded and insulted those present, for which a case was also opened against him under the Citizen Security Act.
The 21-year-old will be brought to court in the coming hours, once the corresponding procedures have been completed.
