Ábalos accuses Puente of his “rejection” and claims he acted the same way as him in Valladolid against Covid

Former Minister of Transport José Luis Ábalos accuses the current incumbent, Óscar Puente, and the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard of “public denigration” who claims to suffer.

This was expressed in a letter sent by his lawyer to the Central Court of Instruction number 2 of the National Court and to which EL ESPAÑOL had access.

Specifically, the defense of the former minister is once again trying to discredit the audit commissioned by Puente, whose final report considered Ábalos the person most responsible for signing two contracts in 2020 with the company Soluciones de Gestión SLconsidered the epicenter of the corruption plot investigated in the Koldo case.

These two awards, as well as others awarded by the Ministry of the Interior and by the governments of the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands to the same company, are now under the control of Judge Ismael Moreno.

Ábalos’ lawyer points out that “it seems clear that such a report only seeks a short circuit” in the attribution of responsibilities, in addition to ignoring the “terrible” health emergency situation.

In fact, the former minister’s defense claims that “similar decisions” to those he took at the time “were adopted in other administrations, such as the Community of Madrid.” and even in the city of Valladolid, whose mayor who ordered this report was“. The latter is an allusion, precisely, to Óscar Puente, who was councilor of the capital of Valladolid until 2023.

On the other hand, in this document, Ábalos describes as “particularly disturbing” the fact that the UCO is the one that, according to the former minister, regularly leaks information about the case to the press. This elite unit of the Civil Guard is in fact in charge of the investigations ordered by the judge of the National Court Ismael Moreno.

For all these reasons, Ábalos asked the magistrate to appear as a victim in this case, but his request was denied. As EL ESPAÑOL exclusively reported, the former minister intended to appeal. And he did so through this letter, signed by his lawyer Gonzalo Díaz, from the Solium Legal & Finance team.
