Ábalos asks judge to enter Koldo case as victim and provides own audit

Former Minister of Transport José Luis Ábalos presented a document to the investigating judge in the Koldo case in which he requests access to the file as an “injured” person and provides an expert opinion that refutes the audit carried out by order of Minister Óscar Puente at the Ministry of Transport on the purchase of masks in the midst of a pandemic from the company Instrumental Management Solutions.

The letter, which ABC has had access to, states that although the court “has not issued a summons or request for information” to Ábalos and he has not been summoned “under any conditions,” “information and news continue to emerge that concern him personally” and “directly,” which is why he is asking to act as an injured party.

In this sense, he refers to the audit of the Ministry of Transport, “which in principle should only have the potential for internal control in order to recommend improvements in the management of the service”, and was disseminated “deliberately” by Puente and subsequently submitted to the National Court at the request of the judge.

“Given that this Central Court requested the Ministry to submit said report for the purposes of the investigation of this case, my client requested a contradictory expert opinion prepared by a specialized expert (…) who, in addition to analyzing the methodological error as an audit, comes to distort each of the statements that the aforementioned report projects and focuses on it,” says the document signed by Ábalos’ defense.
