Jose Luis Abalos asked the National Court to return “two digital memories”who claims that they contain family photographs and personal documents and that the Civil Guard seized them during the search of the home of the person who was their main advisor, Koldo Garcia.
The latter is the main one studied in what is called Koldo casein which Judge Ismael Moreno investigates the allegations collection of illegal commissions thanks, among other things, to two public contracts awarded to the same company when Ábalos was head of the Ministry of Transport.
In what is called Operation DelormeTHE Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard arrested, among others, Koldo García. It was at this time that the agents seized the two memoirs mentioned by Ábalos in his writings.
What happened is that, according to the former minister, these devices belonged to him, even though they were at the home of his former advisor. That is why he handed them over to Judge Moreno in a letter dated July 31, in which he requested that they be returned to him.
José Luis Ábalos reported that Koldo García kept these removable hard drives because helped him with his move He had to leave the Ministry of Transport when he was fired by Pedro Sánchez. This happened in the summer of 2021.
According to the letter, signed by Ábalos himself and to which EL ESPAÑOL had access, these devices contain “family photo albums since 2004”, pictures of your children“personal and professional documents” and “photographs of public events”.
As he warns the judge, it is “content of an absolutely private and very personal nature”in addition to being unrelated to the facts under investigation Koldo case. He therefore asks Ismael Moreno to return them to him, “after verification deemed appropriate.”
“This leads me to request (…) the restitution of the aforementioned digital memories (…). Not only because this concerns strictly private aspects, but also to avoid possible -as has already happened- that this information be disclosed or made public, which, without a doubt, would seriously violate my right to non-dissemination of personal data and to my own privacy,” the letter demands.
Complaint to the Prosecutor’s Office
In the same document, Ábalos also informs the judge that he has filed a complaint with the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) because some leaks made to the press concerned the former minister’s personal data.
And as EL ESPAÑOL recently reported, the FGE forwarded this complaint to the Madrid prosecutor’s office, which informed the courts a few days ago that it had observed signs of a possible crime of revealing secrets suffered by Abalos.
On the other hand, the former minister, as published by this media, also asked a few days ago to appear as “injured” in the Koldo case. For this, he specifically referred to the leaks published by the press on subjects that affect his personal life.
Judge Moreno has already questioned the anti-corruption prosecutor’s office “on the relevance or not” of admitting Ábalos as an indictment in this case. Meanwhile, rumors are growing that the leader will end up accused in this trial, but, at this precise moment, the investigator dismisses it.
