Abkhaz president denies calling for depriving MPs of Russian citizenship

The administration of the President of Abkhazia has refuted the information that President Aslan Bzhania had turned to the Russian side with a request to deprive the deputies of the parliament of the republic of Russian citizenship.

“Information has appeared on social media that the President of Abkhazia, Aslan Bzhania, was responsible for providing information about parliamentarians and opposition leaders in order to deprive them of Russian citizenship. We inform you that this information is not true. The President of Abkhazia did not undertake any obligation to provide any information.” – the administration said in a statement.

The day before, Nuzhnaya Gazeta reported, citing sources, that “Bzhania proposed depriving parliamentarians and political and public figures who opposed the law on apartments of Russian citizenship. Because they allegedly oppose the interests of Russia.”
