Actor and “country legend” Kris Kristofferson dies in the US

Actor and country musician Kris Kristofferson has died at the age of 89. This was reported by the Variety portal in reference to the artist’s family.

It is clarified that the musician died at his home on the island of Maui. The circumstances and cause of death are not given.

Kris Kristofferson was born on June 22, 1936 in Texas. In the 1960s, influenced by the work of Bob Dylan, he changed the face of country music, moving it away from the exploitation of stereotypical cowboy and romantic motifs toward deeper forms of personal expression.

He performed both alone and as part of the group The Highwaymen. His most famous songs are Sunday Mornin’ Comin’ Down, Help Me Make it Through the Night, For the Good Times and Me and Bobby McGee, A Star is born and other hits.

Kristofferson has also appeared in nearly 100 projects throughout his career, including the films Semi-Hard, Songwriter, Lone Star, and Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore.

He has won three Grammy Awards and has been inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. He received a Golden Globe for his role in A Star is Born.
