Actor James Earl Jones, voice of ‘Darth Vader’ and Mufasa in ‘The Lion King,’ dies at 93

Actor James Earl Jones has diedHe turned 93 this Monday in New York. The revered actor played Darth Vader, the villain of star wars and Mufasa in The Lion Kingplays field of dreams and many other films.

Considered one of the world’s finest film and stage actors, Jones is one of the few performers to have won the EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony). Jones has received two Primetime Emmy Awards, a Grammy, and three Tony Awards, and has received the Honorary Academy Award.

Beginning with Stanley Kubrick’s classic Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964), Jones has appeared in some of the most successful films of all time. He is probably best known for his role as Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy. He also reprised the role of the villain in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005) and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016).

Jones also played Mufasa in the animated film The Lion King (1994) and the live-action hybrid film (2019). He also lent his sonic voice to the cable news network’s popular “This is CNN” promotional campaign.
