Actress Lee Young-ae donated 100 million won to the Japanese Colonial Forced Labor Victim Support Foundation on Liberation Day.

According to the Japanese colonial forced labor victim support foundation under the Ministry of Public Administration and Security on the 14th, Lee donated 100 million won the day before, saying, “Please use it for those who were sacrificed to forced labor during the Japanese colonial period, thinking about the day we regained our country.” The foundation has been paying the judgment money and interest on late payments to victims of forced labor who won in Supreme Court rulings against Japanese companies. It is also in charge of memorial projects for victims of forced labor.

Lee is reported to have said, “I think it is our role to take care of as many of those who suffered from forced mobilization during the Japanese colonial period as possible while they are still alive.” Known as the child of a Korean War veteran, Lee has consistently donated to the children of soldiers who died in the K-9 self-propelled howitzer explosion, soldiers who were injured by North Korea’s wooden box mine provocation, the Cheonan Memorial Foundation, the Korea Military Academy, etc.

In June, he donated 50 million won to a military comfort concert held to mark the ‘Month of Patriots and Veterans’ Affairs’, saying, “My father and father-in-law are also veterans who experienced the Korean War themselves,” and “I hope that this performance and sponsorship will be a great comfort and encouragement to the soldiers who are dedicated to national security.”
