Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power plans to fully commission the 240 MW Khizi-Absheron (KES) wind power plant in Azerbaijan by December 2025.
This was reported in an interview to “Report” by Selim Güven, director of the company for Azerbaijan and Türkiye.
“The construction of KES continues successfully. In 2025, the station will reach its planned capacity in stages, from September to November. In particular, according to our schedule, the station’s capacity will reach 80 MW in September, 160 MW in October and 240 MW in November.” – said S. Guven.
According to him, the total cost of the project is 340 million dollars.
“Part of the financing will come from the company’s own funds and the other part will be a loan from banks. We have attracted $240 million from the syndicate, which includes the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the OPEC Fund, and 100 million dollars are own funds,” the manager highlighted.
It should be noted that the opening ceremony of the KES “Khizi-Absheron” took place in January 2022. Within the framework of the project, 40 wind turbines with a power of 6 MW each will be installed. It is planned to install 17 turbines in the village of Pirekashkul of the Absheron region and 23 turbines in the village of Sitalchay of the Khizi region. One billion kilowatt hours of electricity will be produced annually at KES. The start-up of this station will save about 220 million cubic meters of natural gas per year.
