The isolated high level depression (DANA) which is already affecting parts of eastern and southern Spain will bring precipitation to almost the entire country this Thursday, which will be heavy or persistent in western Andalusia, in the lower Ebro and areas of Spain. Mediterranean, although they are not excluded in the Central System, according to forecasts from the National Meteorological Agency (AEMET).
AEMET has activated alerts of different levels in five autonomous communities and this morning lowered the alert level in Andalusia and the Valencian Community, where the alerts are now orange. In the regions of Castile and León, Extremadura and Galicia there are yellow signs. In the case of Galicia, the warning is activated by coastal winds in A Coruña, up to 74 kilometers per hour.
In the Valencian Community, the three provinces have activated orange level alerts – significant risk – due to rainfall. The most significant case is that of the Valencia coast, where precipitation accumulated in 12 hours of 100 millimeters is expected. AEMET has already deactivated the red alert (extreme risk) for this area, where the maximum level alert was maintained early in the morning.
“The worst of this second DANA is over. We lowered the warning to ORANGE on the coast of Valencia and it was raised to ORANGE on the northern coast of Alicante, where it is currently raining heavily on the beaches of Dénia”, reported the AEMET account of the Valencian Community.
In Andalusia, Malaga is also already off alert, having recorded this Wednesday heavy flooding which caused thousands of evictionsclosures of health centers and suspension of transport. Now the risk shifts to the west and the provinces on orange alert are Huelva, Cádiz and Seville, with precipitation accumulated in 12 hours reaching 80 mm in the case of some areas of Huelva. Almería and Granada are on yellow notice.
In the “Special Notice of Undesirable Phenomena” published by AEMET this week, the Meteorological Agency plans to be able to end the DANA episode this Friday, November 15.
