AEMET puts half of Spain on alert due to storm that brings rain and storms with hail

Nine communities in the interior of the peninsula are on yellow alert (risk for certain activities) due to heavy downpours, storms, wind and hail, to which is added Aragon, which will activate the orange level (high risk), due to accumulations of water of up to 30 liters per square meter in one hour, after the arrival of an isolated high-level depression (dana) located to the west of the peninsula.

At the yellow risk level are Madrid, Andalusia, the two Castilians, Navarra, the Basque Country, La Rioja, as well as the Valencian Community and Galicia (the latter two, like Aragon, will activate warnings from 2 p.m.), according to data from the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) on its website.

In the Aragonese community, in addition to hail and very strong gusts of wind, the rains are expected to collect up to 30 liters per square meter in one hour in the three provinces, especially in areas such as Albarracín, Jiloca, Gúdar and Maestrazgo (Teruel), Cinco Villas (Zaragoza) or the Ribera del Ebro and the center of Huesca.

There will also be storms with strong winds and hail and it will rain intensely, with accumulations of up to 20 liters per square meter in an hour, in the interior of Castellón and Valencia and also in La Mancha, Cuenca and Albacete, with intense rainfall in much of Castilla-La Mancha.

In addition, in this community, up to 15 liters per square meter will be collected in one hour in areas such as the Tagus Valley in Toledo and the Sierra de San Vicente, and widely in Ciudad Real and Guadalajara or on the Soria plateau.

Also In the Community of Madrid, 15 liters per square meter will accumulate in an hour.according to AEMET data.

There will also be strong storms in Castilla y León, with rains that will fall with this intensity and will affect the entire community, from the central system of Ávila, to the Iberian Peninsula and the Burgos plateau and the region of Treviño, Segovia, Sanabria (Zamora), Palencia, Valladolid or El Bierzo (León), among many other areas.

In Andalusia, rainfall will also accumulate to 15 liters per square meter in one hour in Grazalema (Cádiz), as well as in Pedroches and in the mountains of Córdoba and in the Cordoba countryside. On the other hand, in the afternoon, Almería (west and capital) will activate the yellow alert for coastal phenomena, wind from the east and northeast with intervals of 50 to 60 km/h (force 7) and waves of 2 to 3 meters.

Maximum temperatures will tend to decrease, more markedly in the interior of the peninsula, with locally notable decreases; while minimum temperatures will increase in the northwest and decrease in the center, although they could still exceed 34 ºC in points of eastern Andalusia and in the depressions of the northeast.

Here is the prediction of the autonomous communities:
