AEMET puts nine communities on alert for rain, storms and hail

Nine autonomous communities in the eastern half of the country are on alert for rain and storms with the possibility of hail and strong winds, and in the case of Aragon and the Balearic Islands, the warning is orange (high risk) due to accumulations of between 30 and 40 liters per square meter in one hour. Cantabria, Castile, Catalonia, Murcia, Navarre and the Valencian Community are at yellow level (with risk for certain activities), according to the forecasts of the National Meteorological Agency (AEMET) on its website.

The rains will be intense in Aragon, especially in the Pyrenees and also in the center of Huesca as well as in areas of Teruel such as Albarracín, Jiloca, Gúdar and Maestrazgo, where up to 30 liters per square meter will be collected in one hour.

Rainfall levels will be even higher inland in Mallorca (Balearic Islands), with amounts of up to 40 litres per square metre in one hour, and amounts of 25 litres per square metre will also be reached on other islands such as Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera. 30 litres per square metre will also be collected in one hour on the coast of Castellón and Valencia.

There will also be heavy rain in the Val d’Aran, in the Pyrenees and in the central depression of Lleida, in Catalonia, with levels of up to 20 litres per square metre, and these amounts will also be collected on the coast of Tarragona.

Rainfall accumulations will reach up to 15 litres per square metre in one hour in Castile and León, in areas such as the central system of Soria and Segovia, Burgos or the Sierra Cantabria of Palencia. Likewise, these quantities will be collected in the provinces of Castile-La Mancha such as Guadalajara, Cuenca or Albacete, as well as in Cantabria del Ebro and in areas of the Levante such as the northwest of Murcia.

Temperatures will suffer an almost general decrease, more pronounced in the maximums of the center and the eastern third of the peninsula, increases are only expected in the western Cantabrian area, in Galicia and in the west of Extremadura and Andalusia.

This is the prediction of the autonomous communities
