AEMET puts six communities on alert due to dana, which brings rain and storms

The presence of an isolated high altitude depression (dana) in the northwest of the peninsula will maintain instability in the northern and northeastern thirds on Friday, causing abundant cloudiness and precipitation, with accumulations of more than one hundred liters, and a drop in temperatures in some areas of the peninsula, while in the rest of the country, the sky will be partly cloudy.

The National Meteorological Agency (AEMET) predicts, with uncertainty, that the dana will evolve into a cold depression, with precipitation that could be strong and persistent in Navarre and northern Aragon, without being excluded in the east of the Basque Country and in the region of Lleida. Pyrenees, perhaps More than a hundred liters have been collected in places in the Pyrenees of Huesca.

It is likely that they will also become strong, even locally very strong, on the coasts of Catalonia. There will be occasional rains with storms in the north-western third of the peninsula and, with great uncertainty, locally heavy and persistent rains are not excluded in western Galicia and parts of Asturias.

Thus, six communities in the north of the country are on alert for rains and storms, which can also cause hail in Aragon and Navarre, both at orange level (high risk) due to accumulations of water that could reach 80 liters per square meter in twelve hours in the Pyrenees regions.

Likewise, with a yellow level, due to a slightly lower risk than the previous one (for certain activities), Catalonia is on alert, to which are added – only due to the rain – the Basque Country, Galicia and the Valencian Community – which will leave the weather alert at 10 a.m.

In central Navarre, the rain will accumulate up to 60 litres per square metre in twelve hours, according to forecasts from the National Meteorological Agency (AEMET).

In Catalonia, where the rains can also be accompanied by hail, the expected accumulations will reach up to 30 litres per square metre in one hour on the coasts of Tarragona and Barcelona as well as on the coast of Castellón (Valencian Community).

On the other hand, the rainfall accumulated in one hour will reach 20 liters per square meter in areas of Aragon such as the center of Huesca and Cinco Villas (Zaragoza). Also in Catalonia, in the Aran Valley (Lleida).

In Galicia, where the rain alert will be activated this Friday from noon, accumulations could reach up to 15 liters per square meter in one hour in provinces such as La Coruña and areas of Pontevedra, such as Rías Baixas.

In the Basque community, the province on alert is Gipuzkoa, in the coastal area, due to rainfall accumulated in 12 hours of up to 40 liters per square meter.

This is the prediction of the autonomous communities
