An apocalyptic landscape This is what we see from the air in an area of Aldaya. Although it may not look like it, a brown scene full of overturned cars and uprooted vegetation is actually the entrance to a shopping center in which dozens of people were trapped for the DANA.
The power of water caused earth movements, lifting roadslike in La Alcudia and barges dragged from the sea inland. River levels have fallen in places, revealing the skeletons of affected bridges. Structures under which vegetation and destroyed cars now mix.
The DGT monitors from its helicopters the queues of several kilometers of stranded vehicles which have not been able to continue a journey which has swallowed up several along the way. Many fields have become oceans spoil the entire season’s harvest.
In populated areas, cars still pile up in the middle of the streets next to mud-filled furniture that neighbors bring to their doorsteps.
Emergency services accompany those working underfoot with thermal cameras, searching for survivors by opening doors car by car, on roofs, with boats and even checking stables.
Also from the air, saves many people with reduced mobility one after the other and elderly people who had been trapped by their fate.
