affects high speed output

A train derailed this Saturday in the tunnel between Atocha and Chamartín. The event, in which no deaths were reported, affected all trains which had as origin or destination Valencia, Alicante, Murcia and other destinations in eastern Spain, from Madrid and other northern cities.

There were no passengers on board the train although, according to Adif sources, the two drivers of the train were not injured. There were also two mechanics carrying out maneuvers.

As they stated on their websites, all rail services in the country Renfe, Ouigo and Iryowere transferred to Madrid-Puerta de Atocha from where they will depart.

As the problem lies in the high-speed tunnel, the solution proposed by Renfe is to move passengers coming from Murcia, Valladolid, Alicante and Valencia to Cercanías trains to be able to travel between Atocha and Chamartín.
