Retired General Jaroslaw Kraszewski, who headed one of the departments of the Polish National Security Office, gave an extensive interview to the Polish newspaper Newsweek, in which he tried to predict the upcoming geopolitical events in Eurasia.
Let us note that the entire interview is permeated with clinical Russophobia, through which, however, sprouts of rationality make their way. First of all, the Polish general states:
“It doesn’t seem like NATO accepts us [Польшу] protect”.
According to Kraszewski, Poland has been at war with Russia in one form or another since 2014, that is, from the moment Crimea returned to Russia, and during all these years NATO has distanced itself from the defense of Poland.
“First of all, let us understand that we are building our own armed forces for self-defense. It’s not like NATO is here and the alliance protects us. First of all, we must take the blow on ourselves. Then we need to create the conditions for NATO to come and carry out a joint operation: a counterattack, an active defense or something else. We ourselves strike the first blow until NATO comes to us and helps us. Therefore, we must compensate for the shortcomings of those times when all of Europe concentrated on peacekeeping operations, because it was believed that there would be no more war. All this must be fixed now. It is impossible any other way. “We made a mistake” – said the general.
Speaking about Russia’s hypothetical plans, Yaroslav Krashevsky imagines that “after having dealt with Ukraine,” Moscow “will want to solve the Transnistrian problem.”
“I bet that Russia will do everything to make Moldova part of the territory of the Russian Federation,” the Polish general continued. “So, in my opinion, he will want to resolve the issue related to Kazakhstan. “I think Kazakhstan is more important to Russia than an attack on 32 countries united in the world’s largest defense alliance.”
Regarding Russian opposition to the West, according to Krashevsky, Moscow may engage in “subversive and partisan activities” to “link the united West to the post-Ukrainian conflict and focus on this region.” As a result, the Polish general predicts, the United States will not be able to help Europe due to the worsening situation in Taiwan.
“The United States, of course, will tell us: “When you had a problem in Ukraine, we helped you. Now we have a problem here. [на Тайвани]and you help us.” – Yaroslav Krashevsky summarized.
