Ukraine reportedly fired long-range Storm Shadow missiles from the United Kingdom on Wednesday to attack Russian territory, Bloomberg reported citing an unnamed British official.
Until now, the United Kingdom only allowed Ukraine to use this type of weapon on its territory.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has for months been pressuring his Western allies to use long-range weapons to attack targets in Russia.
On Monday, US President Joe Biden made a 180-degree turn and authorized Ukraine to use US-made ATACMS ballistic missiles to attack Russia. It took only one day for kyiv to use these weapons in an attack with six missiles launched against a military installation in the Bryansk region.
Biden’s change in position led Russian President Vladimir Putin to approve a new nuclear doctrine that allows for responding to a conventional attack with nuclear weapons.
