Abdon Prats takes another step towards history. Next Sunday, he will celebrate 250 matches with Mallorca if he plays a single minute against Rayo Vallecano, in the match corresponding to the tenth day which will be played at the stadium of They are Moix. The striker will also reach this stage against one of his favorite rivals, against whom he scored a decisive goal on the penultimate day of the 21-22 season for the team’s permanence in the First Division.
Abdon is, with Rilloone of only two players still present in the squad on stage in Second Division B. The Artà striker signed for Mallorca in the summer of 2017, from Racing de Santander, and has since become one of the symbols of fans, especially when in June 2019 he scored against Deportivo de La Coruña in Son Moix the goal that earned promotion to the First Division.
This will be the sixth Mallorcan player in history of the club to reach 250 matches, after Chichi Soler (419), Miquel Angel Nadal (348), Bernat Sans (309), Joan Forteza (279) and Sébastien Pocovi (255), Five of them played in the First Division with the team. The exception is Manacorí winger Sebastiá Pocoví, who played for Mallorca in the 1930s and 1940s and whose highest category was the Second Division, as it must be remembered that the club only achieved its first promotion to the highest category in 1960.
Abdón has scored 54 goals in the 249 official matches he has played for Mallorca, including one this season against Real Sociedad, converting a penalty to give Son Moix all three points. His 54 goals place him in the eleventh position of the best historic, four points from tenth, Manolowho got a score of 58.
