Agency official: “Five bridges will be built on the Aghdam-Asgaran-Khojali-Khankendi highway”

“Reconstruction of the Aghdam-Asgaran-Khojali-Khankendi highway will revive tourism in the region.”

This was stated to “Report” by Mammad Mammadov, a senior specialist of the Main Department of Road Operation and Repair of the Azerbaijan State Road Agency (AAYDA).

According to him, the mentioned road is being designed on the basis of the first and second technical levels in accordance with the Karabakh development plan:

“By appropriate order of the Head of State, the reconstruction of the Aghdam-Asgaran-Khojali-Khankendi highway is being rapidly continued. The highway starts from the 40th kilometer of the Barda-Aghdam highway and its total length is 33.6 kilometers. According to the Karabakh development plan, Highway 1 is designed according to the 2nd and 2nd technical grades. The approximately 12-kilometer section of the highway is being reconstructed according to the 2nd grade.

The official of the agency also reported on the progress and technical indicators of the works currently being carried out on the road:

“On this section, the width of the soil bed will be 15 meters, the number of lanes will be 2, and the total width of the traffic section will be 7.5 meters. The 21.6-kilometer section of the road is being reconstructed in accordance with the special technical qualification. The width of the soil bed on this section will be 26.5 meters, the total width of the section will be 15 meters, the number of traffic lanes will be 2 exits and 21 arrivals, and it will consist of 4 sections. In general, the construction of water pipelines, as well as the construction of a passage and 5 bridges are planned.

M. Mammadov also noted that after the road repair, the traffic intensity in this direction will increase:

“The reconstruction of the Aghdam-Asgaran-Khojali-Khankendi highway will facilitate travel in the region and ensure comfortable and fast movement without having to enter the city of Aghdam on the way to Khankendi.”

“The reconstruction of this road will revive tourism in the region and will be of great use for agriculture,” he said.
