THE eighth edition of the Landarte 2024 program is facing the last part of its second phase, which runs until the end of October in five municipalities of rural Navarreand in which the creators realize participatory processes of contemporary creation.

Organized by the General Directorate of Culture – Príncipe de Viana Institution, Landarte This second phase began in June, when the creators began prospecting work, establishing links with the cities where they were going to work. In September, they defined their projects with the communities, and today they are developing them with the neighbors.

With your intervention ‘Invisible whale’, artist Estefanía de Paz seeks to connect associations of Oteiza through a collaborative game similar to “the invisible friend”, but focused on actions rather than gifts with the aim of “fostering empathy and collaboration between different groups in the city, encouraging them to helping each other and strengthening community ties.

In the case of Peru Galbete, his project ‘Peter by stone, collective newspaper of Aibar’ offers a diary where each resident chooses a date and writes something they want to tell. Significant dates, experiences, anecdotes… to build “a collective history of the city”. The project also offers a collective reading of the texts.

In Elgorriaga, Ekhiñe Etxeberria Garjón offers with ‘Herriko Ostatua-Herriko bihotza’ a participatory process which aims to promote the history and social context of a city which is more than its famous spa resort. Ekhiñe worked on neighborhood ties, the Herriko Ostatua, the tradition of work in the Auzolan neighborhoods, their festivals, typical recipes, the names of the houses or the defense of the Basque language. The project will host several collective screenings, workshops, meetings and the collective production of a fanzine.

Oihane Macguiness Armendáriz developed the project “Mapping what has been done and the corners of air culture” with which he seeks cohesion between the inhabitants of the cities of Unciti Valley. For this purpose, a map was created which includes different experiences linked to the territory, and aspects of “popular culture” or “aerial culture” to complete a particular cartography. It is a way of preserving the collective memory of the valley and creating spaces for sharing between residents.

Finally, Maria Azkarate deepens the idea of roots with the project “Anecdotal of Rada”. Azkarate has worked to raise awareness of the connections that exist within a community that, despite its brief history, has developed a strong sense of belonging among its residents. To achieve this, an anecdote is being prepared which compiles and highlights the particular experience of the inhabitants of the town. In addition, meetings are organized to prepare a map linked to the anecdote through simplified plans of the council which will be intervened by the participants.
